Why I Traded My Dorm Fridge for the Cutest Little Studio Upgrade

If you know one thing about me, it’s that I love tools and gadgets — especially the little ones. For my 60th birthday, even though I already had a kiln, my husband wanted to get me something special… and that’s when I stumbled on a little mini kiln. I didn’t really need it, but I loved the fact that it was small, adorable, and perfect for doing tiny batches.

So of course, when I spotted this mini refrigerator, my first thought was, “This is perfect.”

At first, it was purely the size that won me over. But then I realized this little fridge wasn’t just cute — it was exactly what I needed for storing my Art Clay Silver without wasting space.

For years, I kept my clay in a small dorm-style fridge. It did the job, but honestly, it was half empty most of the time… and that really bugged me. Not to mention, it had a constant humming sound I never quite got used to. Eventually, I gave it to my husband for his office and started looking for a better fit for my studio.

Enter the AstroAI Mini Fridge.

It’s compact enough to tuck into my workspace without getting in the way, and it’s quiet so no more annoying hum. I store unopened Art Clay Silver in its original packaging, and opened clay goes into small jars to keep it fresh and ready to work with. Even with its tiny footprint, there’s still extra room inside if I decide to store other types of clay.

Here’s the thing, sometimes the little upgrades make the biggest difference. This fridge freed up studio space, made my clay storage more efficient, and yes… it makes me smile every time I open it.

If you’re curious about the clay I use or want to check out my mini fridge, I'm an Amazon Affiliate so I’ve linked both my favorite Art Clay Silver and the AstroAI Mini Fridge.

Your clay will thank you.
